Innovation in Practice: Robotic Laser Cladding at BGH Edelstahlwerke GmbH

Robotic Laser Cladding takes additive manufacturing of large-scale metal components to a new level. Where conventional methods reach their limits, our robot-assisted, wire-based laser cladding delivers maximum precision, flexibility, and process stability – even in complex applications.

Together with LUNOVU, we at BGH Edelstahlwerke GmbH combine our core competencies in high-performance alloy development and machine design to actively shape the future of additive manufacturing.

Our Focus:
Processing nickel-based superalloys made by BGH using a coaxial Laser-Wire-DED process – ensuring reproducible quality, optimized processes and cost efficiency.

The added value:

  • Improved material efficiency through our specialized wire alloys
  • Process stability thanks to coaxial material deposition
  • Dimensional and surface accuracy of 0.3mm without post-processing
  • Sustainable extension of large components’ service life
  • Processing of complex, non-planar geometries
  • High melting performance with stable process control

⚙️ Technical Highlights:

💡 Dual nickel-based superalloy wire – 1.6mm diameter
💡 Deposited material: 20kg superalloy
💡 Deposition rate: 3kg/hour
