Ni-based alloys & special alloys

Our nickel and special alloys are used in a wide range of applications due to their unique combinations of properties.
The heat and corrosion resistance of our resistance alloys, pure nickel and special alloys is essential for fail-safe components in power generation and the chemical and petrochemical industries, but also in household applications. Equally reliable and with defined physical properties, expansion and glass fusion alloys as well as resistance alloys are used in measurement technology, apparatus engineering and electrical engineering.


Special metallurgy for highest purity

According to the requirements of analysis and purity, the special grades are melted in the vacuum induction furnace (VIM) or in the electric arc furnace.
All BGH casting plants use bottom-poured ingot casting to ensure the best block quality.
Subsequent electroslag remelting (ESR, PESR) or remelting under vacuum (VAR) specifically improves the purity of the material.
Also combination of these processes is possible in order to meet the highest requirements.

Defined thermal expansion for exact processes

These nickel-iron alloys have a very small linear or almost constant coefficient of thermal expansion over a wide temperature range. This makes them perfectly suited for the transition between metal and glass or ceramics.

Applications include electrical components in sensor, measurement and energy technology.

Our resistance alloys are particularly scale resistant and suitable for application temperatures up to 1400 °C.

The high specific electrical resistance of heatsealing band alloys leads to a controlled temperature rise when an electrical voltage is applied. The radiated heat can be used in a variety of ways - in industrial furnaces, heating devices such as instantaneous water heaters or cartridge heaters, in household goods, electric blankets or seat heaters.

The materials achieve their properties through the addition of elements such as Mo, Wo, Ti, Nb in combination with high purity.

NiCr 30 20 is a stainless austenitic iron-chromium-aluminium alloy with high resistivity, good high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance. NiCr 30 20 is non-magnetic.

Properties

CuNi44 has a particularly small temperature coefficient of electrical resistance and is also known under the brand name constantan. The thermoelectric emf is high compared to Cu. The material is scale-resistant and resistant up to 600 °C to oxygen-containing and oxidising sulphurous gases and carburisation, among others.

2.4658 is an austenitic, high temperature resistant Ni-Cr alloy. The resistance to oxidising and reducing atmospheres is high, but limited in the presence of sulphurous gases. The material is very resistant to atmospheric corrosion.

Properties

Alloy 80A is a high-temperature resistant, precipitation hardenable Ni-Cr alloy.
High inner cleanliness is achieved using vacuum induction melting (VIM) and PESR-treatment.
The material shows excellent creep strength and resistance against thermal changes.
Alloy 80A is scaling resistant up to 1000 °C and resistant against corrosion in oxidizing media.
