Tailor-made properties for your application
Optimised alloy concepts and modern production facilities guarantee the best material properties. Convince yourself of the advantages of our innovative premium hot and cold work steels DIECAST ONE, GLASS ONE, TOUGH ONE, PRESS ONE, CUT ONE and FORGE ONE.
Matched to the respective area of application, our BGH ONE premium tool steels enable long service lives for your tool. Improved analyses even make it possible to dispense with expensive ESR or PM grades, as the example of BGH TOUGH ONE shows.
Forming forces of up to 40 MN combined with block formats of up to 1600 mm (standard) and 1250 mm (ESR) form the basis for homogeneous microstructures and material properties across the entire workpiece cross-section.
BGH TOUGH ONE - price-performance winner in many application areas
Do you really need an expensive ESR or PM grade? The performance of BGH TOUGH ONE is on the same level compared to modern PM and ESR tool steels.
It offers the highest toughness values and heat resistance without sacrificing wear resistance.

Properties
BGH CUT ONE is a high performance cold working steel, optimized for wear resistance and cutting edge stability. By specifically choosing the alloying concept and utilizing V-Mo-W-carbide structures the wear resistance of 1.2379 is exceeded by far without reducing the impact toughness.
BGH CUT ONE is an economical and high-performance alternative to PM-steels.
Heat treatment parameters basically correspond to those of 1.2379.
Delivery condition
- annealed (+A) max. 250 HBW
Application area
For highly stressed tools demanding long service life under abrasive wear.
Typical Applications
- Moulds and forming tools
- Shear blades, recycling- and industrial knifes
- Thread rolling tools
- Blanking or fineblanking tools

Properties
BGH DIECAST ONE is a Cr-Mo-V-alloyed hot working steel with optimized chemistry compared to DIN-grade 1.2367.
By using ESR (electro slag remelting) excellent homogeneity and cleanliness are achieved.
BGH DIECAST ONE is the perfect choice for aluminium die casting tools.
It meets the highest demands on strength and wear resistance at high temperatures and provides outstanding dimensional and shape stability and good resistance against tempering.
Delivery condition
- annealed (+A) max. 229 HBW
- EFS-annealed (extra fine structure)
Application area
Tools and dies for light metal casting. Complex tool geometries and environments with high demands on resistance against wear and temperature changes.
Typical applications
- Moulds for aluminium die casting
- Forging dies
- Press dies

Properties
BGH TOUGH ONE is a Cr-Mo-V alloyed hot working steel with high thermal shock resistance and very good wear resistance. BGH Tough One clearly exceeds the toughness of the DIN analysis of 1.2343.
The same heat treatment parameters apply to BGH TOUGH ONE compared to the DIN-grade.
Delivery condition
- annealed (+A) max. 229 HBW
- quenched and tempered (+QT) upon request
- EFS-annealed (extra fine structure)
Application area
Highly stressed filigree tools in environments with demands on resistance against wear and temperature changes in combination with good toughness values.
Typical applications
- Extrusion presses
- Forging dies
- Pressure die-casting
- Plastic moulds
- Press dies
- Hot shear blades

Properties
BGH GLASS ONE is a premium hot working steel with 15 % chromium and 2 % Ni, which has been specially optimised for the glass processing industry. The steel is high-gloss polishable and has very high hardness combined with good wear and corrosion resistance.
Thanks to the special melting process in combination with precisely coordinated hot forming and heat treatment, standard grades such as X22CrNi17 or X17CrNi16-2 are outperformed in terms of microstructure, purity and homogeneity, eliminating the need to use expensive ESR grades.
Delivery condition
- quenched and double tempered (+QDT)
Application area
Highly stressed tools for glass moulds requiring superior surface quality and resistance against wear and temperature changes.
Suitable for large production batches.
Typical applications
- Moulds for tableware
- Moulds for technical and hard glass
- Moulds for optical glasses
- Moulds for electrical cookers
