For complex material requirements
Whether as forging die, tool holder or industrial knife, as extrusion die or plastic or glass mould, as ejector pin or saw blade - the list of applications for modern tool steels is long. The requirement profile of modern tool steels is just as diverse.
BGH grades combine properties such as wear resistance, mirror polishability, resistance to heat and thermal shock, and of course strength and toughness to suit your particular application.
Through optimised metallurgy, we achieve the best degrees of purity and homogeneous microstructures, which are decisive for a long service life of your tools.

Materials and areas of application
Hot working tool steels
Properties
BGH DIECAST ONE is a Cr-Mo-V-alloyed hot working steel with optimized chemistry compared to DIN-grade 1.2367.
By using ESR (electro slag remelting) excellent homogeneity and cleanliness are achieved.
BGH DIECAST ONE is the perfect choice for aluminium die casting tools.
It meets the highest demands on strength and wear resistance at high temperatures and provides outstanding dimensional and shape stability and good resistance against tempering.
Delivery condition
- annealed (+A) max. 229 HBW
- EFS-annealed (extra fine structure)
Application area
Tools and dies for light metal casting. Complex tool geometries and environments with high demands on resistance against wear and temperature changes.
Typical applications
- Moulds for aluminium die casting
- Forging dies
- Press dies

Properties
BGH TOUGH ONE is a Cr-Mo-V alloyed hot working steel with high thermal shock resistance and very good wear resistance. BGH TOUGH ONE clearly exceeds the toughness of the DIN analysis of 1.2343 (H11).
The same heat treatment parameters apply to BGH TOUGH ONE compared to the DIN-grade.
Delivery condition
- annealed (+A) max. 229 HBW
- quenched and tempered (+QT) upon request
- EFS-annealed (extra fine structure)
Application area
Highly stressed filigree tools in environments with demands on resistance against wear and temperature changes in combination with good toughness values.
Typical applications
- Extrusion presses
- Forging dies
- Pressure die-casting
- Plastic moulds
- Press dies
- Hot shear blades

Properties
BGH PRESS ONE is a 6%-Cr hot working steel that combines good hardenability with high wear resistance. It offers good toughness even at comparatively low operating temperatures.
Also available as remelted (ESR) grade.
Delivery condition
- annealed (+A) max. 235 HBW
- quenched and tempered (+QT)
Application area
Hot working toolsrequiring high wear resistance in combination with good toughness. Especially suitable for die forging, press hardening and cutting operations.
Typical applications
- Press hardening tools
- Die forging tools
- Crankshaft dies
- Precision forging
