🩺 Medical-Grade Stainless Steel: When Material Quality Improves Quality of Life

In medical technology, the standards are unlike those in almost any other industry. Materials used for orthopedic implants and endoprostheses must not only meet the highest requirements in terms of strength, corrosion resistance and biocompatibility, but also comply with the most stringent European and U.S. standards and specifications.

For more than 20 years, BGH has been developing, manufacturing and continuously optimizing specialty steels for medical applications.

Our established medical-grade materials include:

1.4441 (X2CrNiMo18-15-13) – available in various strength levels for orthopedic implant applications

1.4472 (X4CrNiMnMo21-9-4) – particularly suitable for the production of hip prostheses

⚙️ Our commitment goes far beyond material design. Continuous advancements in manufacturing technologies, optimized heat treatment processes and state-of-the-art non-destructive testing (NDT) methods help ensure the consistently high-quality standards required by the medical industry.

We are also continuously expanding our portfolio with larger dimensional ranges, additional product forms such as flat bars and further material grades designed to meet the evolving requirements of future medical applications.

The X-ray image of a thumb saddle joint endoprosthesis illustrates where high-performance materials make a difference: in applications that directly contribute to human health and quality of life. Behind every implant solution stand specialized stainless steels, reliable manufacturing processes and uncompromising quality standards throughout the entire value chain.
